Ms. Everly Broadway

Section Chief for Middle and Secondary Mathematics at the State of North Carolina 's Department of Public Instruction


Information: Ms. Broadway is Section Chief for Middle and Secondary Mathematics at the State of North Carolina 's Department of Public Instruction. She holds a B.S. in Secondary Education/Mathematics from Baylor University in Waco , TX and an M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of Texas at Austin . She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . For 14 years, she taught middle and high school mathematics in California , Texas , and North Carolina before becoming the Director of Mathematics for Durham Public Schools, an urban district of 35,000 students in Durham , NC . Under her leadership, the teachers and administrators in Durham participated in a six-year Local Systemic Change project in mathematics, Realizing Achievement in Mathematics Performance (RAMP) Project (NSF Award #9819542). Everly also served in Durham as the Director of a state funded MSP project in Durham focused on middle school mathematics and science. In her current position she serves as Director of the NC MSP program. Her current research work focuses on the role of curriculum in secondary mathematics achievement. She provides a state-level perspective to the project and a direct link to every high school mathematics teacher in North Carolina .
