Dr. Nordé is a career mathematics educator in the Detroit Public Schools, where she has served as supervisor of secondary mathematics since 1994. She supervises approximately 300 secondary mathematic's teachers and is responsible for professional development. Dr. Nordé has given workshops and talks on mathematics as well as teaching and learning of mathematics at local and state professional meetings. She received a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies with a minor in Mathematics Education from Wayne State University . Dr. Nordé has served in several positions within the Detroit Area Council of Teachers of Mathematics (DACTM) including President. She is a member of the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Presently, Dr. Nordé is working on a research project in partnership with the University of Michigan on closing the gap in mathematics achievement between high school and college. She also brings experience working with one of America 's largest school systems and one with a significant percentage of its students belonging to historically underrepresented groups. |
